Mercury Emissions Studies and Testing

Air Quality Services' comprehensive mercury testing services provide our clients with accurate, low detection level, quality-assured data using EPA validated test methods. This data enables our clients to make informed decisions regarding mercury emissions levels and control in their boiler systems (in concert with SO2, NOx and PM emissions control), at reasonable cost.

Our experience and capabilities include:

  • Mercury in coal-fired boiler flue gas studies utilizing the Sorbent Tube Method specified in 40CFR75, Appendix K (formerly proposed EPA Method 324) and the Fluegas Absorbent Mercury Speciation™ (FAMS™) Method. AQS employs the technical and analytical support of Frontier Geosciences, Inc. (co-author of US EPA Method 324, US EPA Method 1631 and author of the FAMS™ Method).
  • Mercury in coal combustion products and byproducts analysis by cold vapor atomic fluorescence spectrometry (CVAFS) following the digestion and analytical procedures specified in US EPA Method 1631. ·
  • Customized mercury test studies containing data that is that accurate, quality-assured, and cost effective. To get an idea of the type of data you may experience from our customized mercury test studies, click on our Model Mercury Test Program.
